Meet the Minds Behind the Work

Our team's a mix of dreamers and doers who've spent years figuring out how to make buildings that actually work for people AND the planet.

Principal Architect

Elena Voss

Principal Architect, MRAIC

20+ Years Experience LEED AP BD+C

Started this whole thing back in 2008 after getting tired of watching developers slap up cookie-cutter buildings that'll be outdated in ten years. I spent the first half of my career with some of the big firms downtown, learning all the rules so I could figure out which ones were worth breaking.

These days, I'm obsessed with how buildings can adapt over time - designing spaces that won't need a complete overhaul when needs change. It's about creating architecture that's flexible without being generic, which honestly is way harder than it sounds.

"Good architecture shouldn't need an instruction manual. If people can't figure out how to use your space intuitively, you've failed."

Senior Designer

Marcus Chen

Senior Designer & Sustainability Lead

Passive House Designer BIM Specialist

Came on board in 2012 after finishing grad school at Waterloo, where I basically became a nerd about building science. Everyone was talking about "green design" back then, but half of it was just greenwashing nonsense that looked good in marketing materials.

I handle the technical side of making our projects actually sustainable - not just slapping some solar panels on the roof and calling it a day. We're talking thermal modeling, energy analysis, material life cycles... the stuff that makes a real difference but doesn't always photograph well.

"The best sustainable design is invisible - clients just notice their utility bills are weirdly low and their spaces feel comfortable year-round."

Interior Design Lead

Asha Patel

Interior Design Lead

NCIDQ Certified 15+ Years

Joined the studio in 2015 after running my own interior practice for years. Got tired of being brought in after all the important decisions were made - you know, when the architect's already locked in everything and you're basically just picking paint colors.

Here, I'm involved from day one because that's when the good stuff happens. We think about how light moves through spaces, how materials age, how people actually live and work. I've always believed interior design isn't decoration - it's architecture at human scale.

"Show me your material samples and I'll tell you if you're serious about durability. Half the 'luxury' finishes out there fall apart in five years."

Project Manager

David Kowalski

Senior Project Manager

PMP Certified Construction Background

I'm the guy who makes sure the beautiful renderings actually turn into buildings. Spent fifteen years on job sites before moving into project management, so I know exactly what contractors are thinking when they see certain details in the drawings.

My job's keeping everyone honest - budgets, timelines, quality standards. I've learned that most construction problems happen because someone made an assumption instead of asking a question. So I ask a lot of questions, probably more than people want to answer.

"A realistic schedule beats an optimistic one every time. I'd rather under-promise and surprise clients by finishing early."
